Frymaster’s Integrated Oil Quality Sensor Wins the 2016 Gas Foodservice Equipment Network (GFEN) Blue Flame Award as “Product of the Year”

Shreveport, LA . . . Frymaster will be presented the 2016 GFEN Blue Flame Award at the NRA show in the Manitowoc booth #3601 on Saturday, May 21 at 10:30am. Frymaster’s FilterQuick® fryers with the integrated Oil Quality Sensor (OQS) are the ¬ first fryers in the world to monitor the health of the oil and indicate with precision when frying oil needs to be discarded. In recent years, new technologies like automatic ¬filtration, automatic top off, oil conserving frypots and cool mode controllers have promised to extend oil life. The problem is that operators need an accurate, consistent and objective way of determining when to replace the oil. Using the oil for too long will damage food quality, while disposing of oil too soon will result in increased expense. Common subjective oil quality assessments like oil color, food color or days in use require too much guess work and minimize the impact of these oil life extending technologies.

Frymaster’s patented OQS measures Total Polar Materials (TPMs), the best objective assessment of oil quality. Oil is then able to be discarded at its true endpoint, not to soon or not too late. This ensures high food quality and optimal oil life. Monitoring complexity is reduced to a push of a button. Wendell Hays, Director of Product Management for Frymaster, stated: “Manitowoc Foodservice is so excited to offer this world leading fryer technology. Knowing when to discard oil is one of the biggest dilemmas for our customers. The innovative OQS eliminates the guesswork and supports more healthy and pro¬ table frying operations.”

The Gas Foodservice Equipment Network (GFEN) is an international alliance of utilities, foodservice equipment manufacturers, gas industry associations and foodservice trade allies organized to be a source of gas solutions for the commercial foodservice segment. Membership is open to natural gas providers, manufacturers of natural gas commercial foodservice equipment or HVAC systems and other foodservice trade allies.

GFEN’s mission is to help increase the use of natural gas — America’s best energy value — in the commercial and institutional foodservice markets by serving as the preferred resource for information, education, testing and marketing support of all types of food service technologies. GFEN scans the market on a global basis to identify and bring forth technology transfer opportunities for products having improved affordability, performance, energy efficiency, safety, durability and ease-of-use.

The coveted GFEN Blue Flame Product of the Year is awarded annually, on the ¬ first day of NRA to one gas equipment manufacturer who has introduced a new or improved gas foodservice appliance or product. The Product of the Year Award recognizes outstanding technology & innovation in the Gas Foodservice Industry. With GFEN members throughout North America, winning the GFEN Blue Flame Award showcases industry leading efforts in research, development and commitment to excellence.
